Mariane was a dear and special friend, we go back a long way
from our days at Brandwood Street Primary Street School to our time at Hayward Grammar
School (along with friends Janice, Joy, Lesley and Pauline) I have so many happy
memories of the good times we shared as a group of friends, going out in Bolton
mainly to the Beachcomber (which became the Cromwellian) the Palais, and not
forgetting the Boars Head and the Swan Hotel! Mariane was always very stylish
and a real ‘Mod’! Over the years as a
group we kept in touch even though some of us moved away we would still get
together whenever possible, this often coincided with a visit from Joy all the
way from Australia! Yvonne, a close and special friend of Mariane would be the
one to contact her and a night out would be arranged! Recently we all enjoyed a wonderful holiday in Spain reminiscing
and catching up and the following year a lovely weekend in London with a visit
to the theatre to see ‘Thriller’ a special lunch at Claridges and not
forgetting a fun shopping trip with Nuala! Last year despite her illness Mariane came to Bolton twice, once
for a 'reunion' of our group at Jackie’s home which included Joy who now lives
in America and Janice from Canada and the second time sadly for our dear friend
Yvonne's funeral. Mariane fought her illness bravely and with a dignity that
was both humbling and an inspiration. She always looked so beautiful and
elegant, she had a wonderful sense of humour and fun and I never heard her
complain once. Mariane I will miss you every time we get together but I
will never forget you and remember you as I know all of us will as a beautiful,
kind, lovely lady who I am so proud to have called my friend. God bless and Rest in Peace Mariane, Donna xxx
